I got to A2 level – my reading and listening skills are better than my speaking and writing, but I’m pretty happy. I’ve had a couple of language exchange conversations and I attend classes a few times a week. I’m reading (and listening) to one of my favorite classic books in Spanish and it’s becoming easier to follow the story. I’m excited to continue my journey.

La Princesita (A Little Princess). I’m listening to it whenever I can, too. It’s great coz I remember the story so well that now I’m just enjoying it in another language.

I learned the words of this song “Tutu” by Camilo and realized that nadie como tú mean no one like you. I started slowing my favorite songs down on youtube so that I can listen and try to pronounce words correctly. And I’m able to read the signs in spanish in the train station and last week my husband told me it sounded like I had been speaking for years.?

That’s great Christina! Singing along can really help improve pronunciation.

I have been more intentional in talking with my babies, however briefly, in Spanish. I also started looking for shows to watch since 3% is over.

I have studied consistently (virtually daily) and worked very hard to understand the grammar we are covering at the language school I attend. I set myself the goal of initiating more conversations with Spanish people and have achieved that (I live in Spain in a dominantly English speaking area! Even the Spanish people answer in English!). I have read more books, listened to more audio books and generally studied more, as per my aims/hopes. I have just started learning a song with Spanish con Salsa ?

I entered a 3-month challenge just before Christmas to commit to doing something in Spanish 5 days a week. Sometimes this was just watching something on Netflix or reading graded readers. I started following a YouTuber and downloaded and read her book in Spanish. I completed a B1.3 course at a language school. I had my first ever one-on-one tutor sessions. I’m missing the accountability of my 3-month challenge and so am fired up with this Reset & Refresh opportunity.

I really identify with your learning style. Congrats on your progress and thanks for all the tips!

I have been listening to more native speakers speak almost everyday. I have been able to understand more and more each day. My goal this quarter is to speak and read more. I feel that my vocabulary is at a stand still.

Hola Rea, let’s use that to come up with a measurable goal. If you focus on listening comprehension, you can also improve your vocabulary. But to get better at speaking, you have to practice speaking.
Check out episode 50 of the podcast and see if you can come up with a 90-day goal to improve your conversation: https://www.learnspanishconsalsa.com/conversation/

I was placed in a project at work that finally got me to turn my “become fluent in Spanish” agenda item into a top priority. I just had my first 1:1 session last week and faced my performance anxiety. Since then, I’ve been inviting my mom to practice basic vocabulary with me so she can learn and I can refresh what I learned back in grade school. She and I laughed so hard this morning learning body parts, making up mnemonics and taking in the Spring daffodils.

That’s great that you’ve found some motivation and are having fun with the language Danae 🙂

I was more intentional with making sure I was listening to more Spanish content and repeating words and phrases out loud for practice.
-
That’s great Shantera! Listening and repeating is a good way to improve your pronunciation.

Usé actividades diarias aprender nuevas palabras en lugar de un estudio tradicional.
