Estoy feliz para ti. No podemos asistir a nuestra Iglesia por causa del virus, pero he encontrado un podcast en español y dicen sobre temas espiritual. Por ejemplo la importancia de nuestra relación con Dios, cómo vivir una vida aceptable a Dios, y cosas así.

      Hola Lee!

This is a good goal! Try to include a conversation topic and/or how long you want the conversation to last.

For example: “I will have a 30-minute conversation in Spanish with a member of my church about [topic] by June 1, 2021”

Also, just a few minor corrections:

La gente an mi iglesia habla español. Para el 1 de junio 2021, quiero hablar un charle solamente an español fluidamente.

La gente en mi iglesia habla español. Para el 1 de junio 2021, quiero tener una charla solamente en español.

My goal is to understand 25-50% of the Spanish portion of Tuesday staff meetings, and our team’s monthly podcasts in Spanish by June 30th. That is 10 weeks of staff meetings and at least 3 podcast productions. I can work with both the staff meeting agenda in Spanish and the Spanish podcast script (which I write in English and is translated by a staff member) to highlight words I don’t know and any conjugations, etc…I’m unfamiliar with. Beyond highlighting what I don’t know, what additional steps can I take to increase comprehension?

Also, I commit to 9 tutoring sessions between now and June 30th where I can ask questions about the above goal and practice speaking Spanish.

Also, do you have a direct email we can contact you with technological feedback? I’ve had a few funny things occur with the course so far. Thanks!

This is a great goal! Instead of setting a range, I’d pick one percentage to make it clearer. So something like this:

“I will understand 50% of Tuesday staff meetings and podcasts by June 30”

It’s good you’ve committed to 9 tutoring sessions. Have you scheduled them yet?

Are you able to record staff meetings? Or note down words you hear repeated often during the meeting?

For listening comprehension, I recommend reviewing words using flash
cards with audio (you can use an app like Quizlet). The podcast is
great because you can repeat the section you’re having trouble
understanding and use it as a source of vocabulary.

I give more about how to approach listening comprehension goals in episode 51: https://www.learnspanishconsalsa.com/51/

    1) I will improve my comprehension of spoken material by 4th June. To do this I will listen to recordings of conversations and answer questions about the recording. I will also listen to salsa music in the Spanish con Salsa course. I will aim to listen to at least one recording per day.

    2) I will be able to summarize the most important points from Spanish mediation texts using the specified number of words (e.g. 150-175). To do this I will use past exam tasks and allow myself the same preparation time and writing time as in the exam. I will aim to do one task a day.

I have an exam coming up in June and these are my weakest areas.

      Hola Jan,

It sounds like your real goal here is to pass an exam on June 4. Is that correct?

If so, simply state that as your goal. You can include the other details in your activities (see day 2).

By July 10th I would like to have stronger conversation in both social/small talk (music, TV, personal) with friends and business terms that may be used in a work setting. I hope to speak in a way that is natural, confident and in line with the verbiage used by native speakers.

This is a good start Yatevia. I’d just state this in the first person and include the topics and/or timeframe of the conversation. For example, “I will have a 20-minute conversation in Spanish with a coworker about our daily activities by July 10”

I will stay consistent with studying verbs and using what I have learned by July 30.

This is true Tamara. My goal is to pass the DELE Cervantes exam on June 8th. I havent covered the next lesson yet as I am behind. You say include the activities on day 2 so I will go to day 2 now to do so. My weakest áreas are understanding the listening material (CDs played twice by the teacher) and summarising.

    Thank you
